Timers for Sprints

Tomorrow’s parent volunteer duties should be pretty simple. Our stroke and turn officials are all set and Michelle is the starter for this event.

As for timing, we just need to provide 1-2 people. There are 10 teams so timing shouldn’t really be an issue.

I would suggest having 1 person go to the timer’s meeting (listen for when that will be, usually about 20 minutes before the start of the meet) and then amongst yourselves determine shifts for that particular spot. There should be many of you, so shifts will be short. For those of you who didn’t sign up online to volunteer, please step in and help with a shift tomorrow.

Georgia’s last email said open warm up begins at 7:30 a.m. and the meet starts at 9 a.m. If I hear anything more I’ll post it on our blog and Facebook page too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1589950617972419/ Also if you haven’t done so, please drop off your $8/swimmer entry fee at the Rec front desk.

Sprints This Saturday; @Killington Next Tuesday

Onward to Sprints this Saturday. Georgia will send out more info as to warm up and start times. Please email her asap if you are swimming Saturday. I think her entries are due TODAY. Directions to the pool in Rutland: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Northwood+Park,+Rutland,+VT+05701/@43.6459253,-72.9570787,16z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89e02685cdf8a135:0x6a635cc39138fd34!8m2!3d43.6464823!4d-72.9504858

I have to work Saturday so won’t be at the meet, but it’s pretty standard for timing. Timer’s meeting will probably be about 20 minutes before the start of the meet. Please sign up here: http://signup.com/go/dKZZtjU I’ll send an email out Friday with a list of everyone that’s going. Remember that the more timing means shorter shifts. If you have a swimmer participating, please time.

Next Tuesday, July 18, our meet is at Killington. Please let Georgia know if you’re swimming. Sign up for your job here too: http://signup.com/go/NhxXyPH

Please leave cash or a check at the front desk or with the coaches.

States/ Districts:
Districts is July 29. This meet has no qualifying times but it is required that a swimmer has competed in TWO meets prior.  There are four more meets/opportunities left before this meet.

States is August 5-6 at the Upper Valley Aquatic Club. A swimmer must compete in THREE meets and there are qualifying times listed here: http://www.vtswim.org/2017_VSAMeet/VSA_Time_Standards_2017.pdfNew this season are bonus events.  A swimmer must qualify for the bonus events, but for example if they have one states qualifying time, they can swim up to three bonus events.  This is also explained in the link above. All information about the state meet can be found here: http://www.vtswim.org/champs.html.

Vermont State Championship meet info has been posted. Remember your swimmer must have been in at least THREE meets during the season in order to participate - if they qualify. That does include the District meet in Rutland. Also, there are bonus events this year for those who qualify for less than 4 events! All the info for this year's meet, including the time standards (qualifying) and a timeline of events can be found online.

Stroke & Turn Clinic Monday, July 10

Calling all parents!

We are in desperate need of replenishing our pool of Stroke and Turn officials. DO NOT BE AFRAID :)

Believe it or not, it’s easier than you might think, and you’ll have training and support along the way. We have to provide AT LEAST 2 officials at every meet, but more are needed so that each official gets some breaks too. You don’t have to be a former swimmer OR know the strokes. Trainers will teach you what you need to look for.

I’m going to go to the next clinic to be trained and am hoping that there might be at least three or four other parents who are up for joining me. Best part is the clinic is in Quechee.

Monday, July 10
5:30-7:30 p.m.
The Quechee Club, Quechee

If you can commit and attend with me, please let Georgia and me know asap so we can get a list to the trainer.

Thanks all, hope you’ll consider this.

Cheers,
Kim

Home Meet This Thursday, July 6 vs. Quechee & Killington

Our next home meet is this Thursday. Let’s hope for a bit of better, warmer weather.

Also, we will be putting the bull pen back to its original spot for this meet. Thanks to everyone who gave the new idea a try but I think most are in agreement that the way we did it last year worked much better. Timer’s Table and Starter locations still TBD.

If you handed in a volunteer form, I’ve added you into the sign up already. Attached is a PDF to see if you’re signed up yet.

If not, please sign up for a volunteer spot at this link http://signup.com/go/qAzBmdA

This is a tri meet, so we’ll need all hands on deck again. Still looking for bull pen, timers and stroke and turn. I’m hoping we can split timing into 3 shifts if we have enough people.

Thanks everyone - happy 4th!

Team Sign Up Still Open/Volunteers Needed for First Home Meet June 27

June 12, 2017

Hi all,

This will be the last email that past swimmers will receive who aren’t signed up yet this year. If you plan to swim, it’s still not too late! Practices start next Monday. Sign up online at www.woodstockrec.com or stop by the office.

More info will be coming from the coaches this week to those who are registered.

For those who are registered already, I’m getting volunteer sign up ready for our first home meet, Tuesday, June 27. If you handed in a volunteer sign up form, I have inputted your name into the online sign up. (I’ve attached that list too). If you haven’t signed up, please click on the link, and choose a spot to volunteer. Please remember if you have a swimmer participating, you are asked to volunteer. We’ll need all hands on deck and you’ll be asked to help somewhere somehow. For families with more than one swimmer in the meet, we can use more than one parent if possible as well.

Here is the link. We're using SignUp.com (the leading online SignUp and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming SignUps.

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:

1) Click this link to see our SignUp on SignUp.comhttp://signup.com/go/TvMEfsQ
2) Review the options listed and choose the spot(s) you like.
3) Sign up! It's Easy - you will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on SignUp.com.

Note: SignUp.com does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually.

Lastly, as always we’ll have a concession stand and each family is asked to bring some sort of treat, baked good or healthy snack to sell to raise funds for the team.

There will be more… stay tuned...

Thanks,
Kim
